Escorted Transportation Service Northwest

Our 20,000th RideAbout Us

ETS/NW is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2006 with the single goal of providing reliable, volunteer-based, escorted transportation for the seniors in our community to get to their crucial medical and dental appointments. There is a huge need for this program, particularly as our senior population continues to grow.

ETS/NW volunteers use their own vehicles to pick the senior up at their residence, drive them to their appointment, wait with them, and then return them home again. The service is available by appointment only and a minimum of one week’s advance notice is required. A simple application must be filled out and on file before we’ll accept any ride requests. A $12 donation is requested for each round-trip ride. All volunteer drivers are trained, have been background checked and are provided with additional insurance.

We Provide Rides For:

  • regular checkups
  • vision screenings
  • blood and lab tests
  • wound care
  • physical therapy
  • dialysis
  • pacemaker checks, etc.
  • dentist visits

We don’t provide rides when anesthesia is involved:

We are unable to provide transportation for visits when any type of anesthesia has been administered (ie., colonoscopy, day surgeries, etc.), because doctors require the patient to have someone remain with them for at least several hours upon returning home. In those cases, we refer passengers to other services.

We’re the ideal choice for seniors who wish to retain as much independence as possible. ETS/NW’s service is also a wonderful option for seniors whose children don’t live nearby or whose friends or relatives are unable to take time off work in order to take them to a medical appointment.

As of our 10th Anniversary, September 2, 2016, we have provided  23,931 rides!

Our Mission

We exist to serve seniors, living within the northwest suburban Cook County area, who require escorted transportation services to attend medical appointments, which allow them to age in place in their community with dignity.
