Escorted Transportation Service

We are living in unprecedented times and with that comes difficult decisions.  The Board of Directors of ETS made the difficult decision to suspend ETS rides beginning Wednesday, March 18th. We plan to resume to a full schedule of rides when the stay-at-home order is lifted in Illinois.
This decision was made using the current guidelines of the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health to socially distance ourselves in order to slow the spread of COVID19.  Most of all, we did this to protect our volunteers and our passengers.
As supporting our passengers remains a priority, we will be working with them to reschedule their appointments.  We are also reaching out to their family members, senior living facilities and local townships to provide assistance for any appointment that cannot be rescheduled.
ETS has always been about more than simply giving a passenger a ride to the doctor. During this time our volunteers and staff will be reaching out to our passengers to check in on them, make sure they are OK and provide a bit of conversation during these next several weeks.

We cannot thank our volunteers enough for all the care and compassion they provide. We would also like to thank our donors, benefactors, grantors and the community for your continued support of ETS.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at  We will continue to update you on the status of the ETS program as the weeks progress.
Thank you for your understanding. Stay “socially distant”.  Stay safe.  Stay healthy.

With gratitude,

Dallas Ann Tomlin

Executive Director

About Us

ETS/NW is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2006 with the single goal of providing reliable, volunteer-based, accompanied transportation for the older adults in our community to get to their crucial medical and dental appointments. There is a huge need for this program, particularly as our senior population continues to grow (expected to grow 17% in the next 5 years in our service area).

Our service is so much more than a ride to an important medical appointment.  Our drivers treat everyone like their own family.  Our passengers sit next to the driver in the front seat and is shown compassion and companionshipThis is what makes ETS/NW so special.

Our service also gives family member’s peace of mind.  Whether they work, live out-of-the-area, have other commitments or simply need some additional assistance, family members can be confident that ETS/NW will get their loved one to his/her crucial medical appointments.

Our service

The service is available by appointment only and a minimum of one week’s advance notice is required. A simple application must be filled out and on file before we’ll accept any ride requests. A $12 donation is requested for each round-trip ride. All volunteer drivers are trained, have been background checked and are provided with additional insurance.

We Provide Rides For:

  • regular checkups
  • vision screenings
  • blood and lab tests
  • wound care
  • dialysis
  • pacemaker checks, etc.
  • dentist visits

We are the ideal choice for older adults who wish to remain an integral part of their community and remain independent.

PLEASE NOTE: We don’t provide rides when anesthesia is involved: We are unable to provide transportation for visits when any type of anesthesia has been administered (ie., colonoscopy, day surgeries, etc.) because doctors require the patient to have someone remain with them for at least several hours upon returning home.
