I wanted to tell you about a nonprofit I found (Alternative wording: I’m involved with)that provides a vital service to Chicago area seniors. Escorted Transportation Service Northwest (ETS/NW) provides elderly residents in the northwest suburbs with rides to and from their medical appointments. Last year they provided over 4,800 rides to 355 elderly residents in our community.
(Wording if you’re a driver).
I’m a volunteer driver for ETS/NW. I give rides to the frail elderly to their medicalappointments, and I also stay with them during their appointments. My passengers are people who are no longer able to drive. They are wonderful people who are so gratefulto have a ride. I don’t know who gets more from this service, the passengers or me. It’ssuch a fulfilling way for me to give back to the community.
(Wording if you’re a passenger)
I’m one of their riders and my drivers not only take me to my medical appointments, butthey even wait with me in the doctor’s office and take me back home. All my drivers are caring, patient and friendly. No other service in my community provides me with such a vital one-on-one service. I don’t have to worry about being able to get to the doctor.
(Wording for all)
I have made a donation to ETS/NW so they can continue to provide this service to all the elderly who need help. Like most of us, I get a lot of requests for donations that I don’trespond to. Because ETS/NW is local and helps the seniors in my community take care their health, I choose to donate to them. Please consider joining me in supporting ETS/NW with a monetary donation.
ETS/NW’s website (etsnw.org) provides more information and details about making a donation.
ETS/NW is a non-for-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization. All donations are tax deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
